The Society was founded in 1947 and is one of the oldest engineering societies in the UK.

The objective of the Society is to promote the sharing of information, on a wide range of engineering matters, and to facilitate dialogue between those in engineering, and allied professions.

​

The Society does this by holding a series of winter lectures and summer visits across a wide range of interesting projects covering all engineering disciplines.

The Society welcomes those engaged with engineering at all levels and from all disciplines to become members.
